What exactly is O2 Deposit Scan? — O2 Deposit Scan is a service that allows both individual and business customers that deposit low volumes of checks to make deposits from home or office using a flatbed scanning device connected to a computer. (Not available for Apple computers.)
Is O2 Deposit Scan a service for personal accounts or business accounts? — O2 Deposit Scan is a service for both individuals and businesses that deposit low volumes of checks. Businesses that handle large volumes of checks should inquire about our Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) service.
Is O2 Deposit Scan really that easy to use? — Yes, it is that easy. Complete and submit the O2 Deposit Scan enrollment form found on the Old Second web site.
  • Log into the service by entering your User Name and Password. (The first time you go to the log in site, you will need to install the Deposit Scan driver on your computer.)
  • Prepare your deposit by choosing your deposit account, and entering the number of checks and total deposit.
  • Scan the front and back of each check you choose to deposit.
  • Verify your deposit information and click on SUBMIT.
  • You will receive a confirmation that the deposit has been received and is being submitted for processing.
  • ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR DAY.
Do I need a special type of scanner? — No. Most Twain flatbed scanners are supported. This includes flatbed scanners that are part of all-in-one printers. (Sheet-fed and wireless scanners are not supported.)
Does the O2 Deposit Scan solution work with most Internet browsers? — Yes. Most Internet browsers work. If you have trouble with the driver install or authentication process, please call Old Second Deposit Services at 630-966-2455 during normal business hours Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
If I already have O2 Mobile Deposit can I also use O2 Deposit Scan from my home or office? — Yes. You can use both services. You will need to complete and submit the online enrollment form. Once your limit for the combined services has been reviewed and approved, you will receive notification and instructions for installing the O2 Deposit Scan driver on your computer. Your User Name and password for both O2 Mobile Deposit and O2 Deposit Scan will be the same.
If my business already has O2 Remote Deposit Capture can my business also use O2 Deposit Scan? — Yes. You can use both services. You will need to complete and submit the online enrollment form for O2 Deposit Scan at www.oldsecond.com. Once your limit for the combined services has been reviewed and approved, you will receive email notifications with your User Name, Temporary Password and instructions for installing the O2 Deposit Scan driver on your computer.
Is O2 Deposit Scan part of O2 Online Banking or O2 Mobile Banking? — No. O2 Deposit Scan is a separate application with different sign on information and access.
How do I get started? — Complete and submit the O2 Deposit Scan enrollment form found on the Old Second web site. Once your enrollment form is received and processed, you will receive an e-mail with your assigned User Name and a separate email with your Temporary Password. Go to the O2 Deposit Scan link provided in your Welcome email. You will be instructed on how to install the necessary driver on your computer. You are now ready to use O2 Deposit Scan. (The first time you sign in-- please change the Temporary Password to a password that you have selected.)
How can I change my O2 Deposit Scan Password? — To change your password, access O2 Deposit Scan and choose the My Settings option.
How do I change my O2 Deposit Scan User Name? — Contact us at depositservices@oldsecond.com or call Old Second Deposit Services at 630-966-2455.
What if I forget my Username or Password? — Contact us at depositservices@oldsecond.com or call Old Second Deposit Services at 630-966-2455.
Will I be able to deposit through O2 Deposit Scan from only one scan device and computer? — No. You can install the O2 Deposit Scan driver on multiple computers tied to different flatbed scanning devices and use the same User Name and Password. No need to submit an additional enrollment form.
What if I get a new scan device? — All you need to do is uninstall the driver from your computer and re-install it. Once the driver is re-installed it will recognize your new scanner. If you need instructions, please contact Old Second Deposit Services at 630-966-2455.
Can I only deposit to my Old Second checking account? — No. Using O2 Deposit Scan you can also deposit to an Old Second savings or money market account if the accounts were included as deposit options on your enrollment form. If you want to add another account or a new account to your scan deposit option, complete the O2 Deposit Scan change form found on the Old Second web site.
What types of items can I deposit using O2 Deposit Scan? — You can deposit any type of original negotiable check or money order drawn on a U.S. chartered bank that is payable in U.S. dollars. The check must be made payable to you or to one of the joint owners on the account if it is a personal account or made payable to the business if it is a business account. The checks can be drawn on personal, business, or government accounts.
How should checks deposited through O2 Deposit Scan be endorsed? — The checks should be signed (endorsed) by the payee-- writing FOR DEPOSIT ONLY under the endorsement. Also the checks should be endorsed using a black pen so that the endorsement is clear and easily readable.
Can I make a deposit with more than one check? — Yes, you can include more than one check per deposit as long as you do not exceed your daily dollar limit or monthly dollar and check limit.
Is there a dollar limit or a limit to the number of checks that can be deposited through O2 Deposit Scan? — Yes. There are daily and monthly limits.
  • Level 1--for individual customers depositing to personal accounts, the daily deposit limit is $2,000 with a monthly limit of $7,500 and 20 checks.
  • Level 2-for business or non-personal customers depositing to business accounts, the daily deposit limit is $5,000 with a monthly limit of $10,000 and 60 checks.
  • The daily limits are for business processing days—Monday through Friday. Saturday through Monday is considered one processing day and the daily dollar limit applies to that time period.
  • Limits are subject to change and review based on transaction history and use of multiple O2 remote deposit solutions that include O2 Mobile Deposit, O2 Deposit Scan, and O2 Remote Deposit Capture for businesses.
What if I go over my daily or monthly deposit or transaction limit? — If you go over your transaction or deposit limit, the transaction may not be approved. You will receive an error message. Please call Old Second Deposit Services at 630-966-2455 if you have a question related to an error message. If a special circumstance causes you to exceed your limit and you are unable to make a deposit any other way, please contact us to see if you are eligible for a temporary limit change.
What does it cost to use the O2 Deposit Scan service?
  • Individual customers depositing into consumer accounts (Level 1)—no charge.
  • Business or non-personal customers depositing into business accounts (Level 2)-$10 monthly fee.
  • Business or non-personal customers also using on-line cash management services (Level 2 plus Business Cash Management bundle)-$20 monthly fee. This $20 fee also includes the online cash management benefits of dual control sign in, online wire transfer capability, ACH Origination, online positive pay and online sweep capability. Please talk to an Old Second banker about this value enhanced business checking package.
  • There is a $1.00 per item fee in excess of 20 items per individual (Level 1) or in excess of 60 items per business (Level 2). Excess item fees will be charged to your account at the time they are incurred.
What do I do with the checks that I deposit through O2 Deposit Scan? — You should secure the check in a safe place and note on the check that it was part of an electronic deposit. The check should be kept for at least sixty days after you receive your email deposit confirmation. At that time you should destroy the deposited check so that no one attempts to negotiate it in the future. Before destroying, verify on your account statement that the deposit was received and credited to your account.
When are the funds deposited through O2 Deposit Scan available for withdrawal? — Old Second’s standard funds availability policy applies to these deposits. Please contact us if you would like a copy of our Funds Availability Disclosure.
Is there a cut-off time for same day deposit of funds? — Yes. Cut-off time for same day deposit is 7 PM on our business processing days, Monday-Friday. Anything deposited after that time will be considered deposited on the next business day. Old Second’s standard funds availability policy applies to these deposits. Please contact us if you would like a copy of our Funds Availability Disclosure.
How will I know if my scanned deposit was received, accepted for deposit and credited to my account? — There are several ways that you will know that the deposit was received, approved, and credited to your account.These notices include details on your O2 Online Banking, O2 Infoline, email confirmation.
What types of items can I deposit using O2 Deposit Scan? — You can deposit any type of original negotiable check or money order drawn on a U.S. chartered bank that is payable in U.S. dollars. Can a two party check be deposited using O2 Deposit Scan? — No. Two party checks (a check made payable to someone else and signed over to you) should not be deposited using O2 Deposit Scan.
What if I entered the wrong amount on the electronic deposit that I submitted? — You will receive a confirmation that the deposit was received. Your email deposit confirmation will alert you that the electronic deposit amount and the written amount of the check(s) were different and what adjustment was made to the deposit. If you have any questions, call Old Second Deposit Services at 630-966-2455 referring to the transaction reference on the e-mail confirmation.
What if I deposited the same check more than once? — If you attempt to deposit the same check twice at Old Second, the deposit will be declined and the transaction will not be processed. If the check has been deposited at another bank and we process the check, the check will be returned to Old Second and charged back to your account. A Deposited Check returned fee will apply.
What if a deposit that is made using O2 Deposit Scan is declined? — Please call Old Second Deposit Services at 630-966-2455 during normal business hours Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. We will try to help you resolve the problem or direct you to the closest branch or Old Second ATM to complete your deposit.
What if I enroll and do not use the O2 Deposit Scan service on a regular basis? — If the service is not used for 90 days you will receive an email notification and request to access the service or the service may be de-activated. To re-activate the service contact Old Second Deposit Services at 630-966-2455 during normal business hours Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Can I open a new account online and make my first deposit with a check through O2 Deposit Scan? — Not at this time. An account cannot be opened using a check deposit through O2 Deposit Scan. You can open an account online and make your initial deposit with a transfer from another Old Second account, fund with a debit or credit card, mail to, or drop a check off at an Old Second branch, or through PayPal. At this time only personal accounts can be opened using Old Second online account opening.
